3 Things to Consider about Rejection

We are addressing you since you requested to participate in the program of foreign language assistants in Spain 2017-2018. Although you have withdrawn, we inform you that there are still options for you in this program because the Ministry has called for new positions.

This was an email I received after I REJECTED not once but twice an offer to teach in Spain (swipe for the offer letter)

Why the hell would I go through the effort to quit my job in the States, live out of two backpacks to then say โ€œ Adios!โ€ to an opportunity to live in España. I mean to think of all the countries I could have seen...

You canโ€™t miss what was never for you! I knew in the pit of my stomach Iโ€™d never forgive myself in choosing a career over helping to take care of my sick father.

I learned that while one opportunity can be over there there are still opportunities to find fulfillment. I on occasion volunteer to teach English to ESL and refugees in my community.

I was considered so valuable to the organization that they offered me two opportunities and increase pay to stay even after I gracefully declined their offer. Thatโ€™s a win to me!
