6 Essential Carry On Items for your next trip
If overpacking was a talent, I’d be crowning queen year after year. Thankfully, I’ve learned over the years how to effectively pack with less. These are the items that I always carry with me no matter if it's a short or long term trip. Here are my 6 essential carry on items
1. Basic toiletries. Pack your toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant and hygienic products. You never know if you find yourself stuck, delayed or have a cancelled flight.
2. Medication. Keep your prescription medication, and what I like to call the Holy Trinity (Motion sickness, antacid and ibuprofen) on you. Illness is not discriminatory. Your body will need time to adjust to the different bacteria in the food of your host destination.
3. Scarf. A scarf is multi purpose, acting as a travel blanket, travel pillow, tying things together, etc. Depending on the season, you might want to bring a light scarf versus a thicker scarf.
4. Cash. In many parts of the world, cash is king. I recommend you take out between $ 50-100 USD or local equivalent so you have money when you land to help you get by until you can find the nearest bank or ATM.
5. Copies of documents/passport. Make two (2) copies of all your important documents (passport, visas, debit/credit cards/medication). Keep your originals document on you.
6. Buy travel locks
Travel locks can prevent your personal belongings from theft. Most hotels or hostels have a safety box to keep your passport and valuable locked away but just in case this is very helpful.
