What to see and Eat in Roatan Honduras
When you're itching for the waves, the only lotion is the ocean...
Roatan, is the largest island that makes up the Bay Islands in Honduras .It is known around the world for its scuba diving. The reef surrounding the island attracts beautiful tropical fish and snorkelers alike. Thousands of tourists travel to Roatan each year. Visitors from around the world enjoy Roatan's relaxed lifestyle, beautiful sea, mild climate, and friendly people.
West End tends to be more of the party side of Roatan with more hostels and local eateries. West Bay is where you will find all of the all-inclusive resorts and tons of cruise ships , but a great area for snorkeling .
Here is a list of things you can do and see in 3 days while on the Island in West End & West Bay
Eat
Breakfast: Café Escondido
Recommendation: Tank Filler Brekkie . They have some amazing smoothies such as the Nutty Monkey and some freshly made cinnamon rolls.
Lunch: Cindy's Place
An affordable lunch of black beans and maduro ( plantains) for little less than $6 USD
Dinner: The Lighthouse, C-Level Pizza, Rotisserie Chicken
The Lighthouse is one of the more expensive restaurants on this end of the island. Dishes range from $20-45 USD. It is far, however one of the best. I recommend the Coconut Chicken or the Thai SeaFood bowl
At C-Level, it's best to order a 16 in. pizza as you can easily share this with two people. The jalapenos are super spicy! Beware!
There's no real name for this Rotisserie Chicken joint other than the locals and tourists called it" the chicken place". It's the only one on the main road in the West End. They have some AMAZING creole style chicken!
Dessert: Sweet Cakes Shop & Ice cream @ The Laundry Mat.The Tres Leches cake at the Sweet Cakes shop is the best damn dessert on the island ( $ 4USD). No need to look more, you'd think you died and went to heaven.
The best ice cream I found on the island is at a laundry shop. It's one of the only shops on the island. You can relax on a hammock while having your clothes washed and take a nice dip in the ocean.
Activities
Snorkel at West Bay.On the main road in West End, walk to the Maritime conservatory and rent some scuba gear for $5 USD. Then take a water taxi in front of the West End Divers to West Bay for about $3 USD. Walk to the coral wall in front of the Grand Roatan Hotel. This is absolutely the most beautiful and affordable day you can spend snorkeling here. The fish literally surround you!
Swim up Bar.In West Bay there is a swim up bar in the middle of the ocean. Swim there and you get a free complimentary shot. Oh, and you have to jump off the deck. It's only about 4 meters high
Karaoke @ The Blue Marlin. On Thursday. nights, this is the place to be for Karaoke. Sing and dance the night away here. It is an open area, so you get the sea breeze to help you as you get your inner Whitney Houston on!
Jack's Cigar & Bar Shop.If you want more of a slower night and beat the crow at the Blue Marlin, you can always head over to Jack's for a beer. The bartender makes some pretty delicious Daiquiris. Oh and they have sports TV and you can catch all your favorite sports matches too!
